Tips for a Successful Sale

Presentation, accuracy, reasonable price and shipping are the biggest keys to successfully selling your figurine.

Presentation.
This encompasses two areas, your pictures, plural, and your description.
A picture, as they say, is worth a thousand words, and that's so very true - if even understated - when selling collectables, and the more high quality pictures you show, the better. On Lladros, for instance, we always try to show every angle, front, left profile, right profile, back, and bottom - including Lladro stamp. It also helps to take a picture of the original box, if you have it. If you don't have it, don't worry too much about it. Even the Lladro brothers kept very few original boxes. Just be sure your pictures are clear and well lighted.
Descriptions should clear and concise, noting any flaws honestly, and noting if the item is flawless. Note in your description everything you know about your piece, such as when acquired, any special history behind your piece, but most important, be honest.

Accuracy.
If your item is listed poorly, with misspellings, incorrect facts, omissions of information, i.e. a repaired piece is not listed as such, wrong item number, these things will wreck your sale and reputation, along with ours. Know your stuff, or don't list. If you need help, ask, and we'll do what we can. There are also a ton of online resources out there which you'll find helpful.

Price
If you really want to sell your item, I strongly recommend you price it fairly. Remember though that if you are selling a collectable, it has a monetary value to your buyers, but rarely has emotional value to your buyers. Yes, you may be attached to it, but if you overprice your items because of an emotional attachment, you probably wont sell it, and it will remain in your possession. Remember, an item is worth only that which a buyer is willing to pay.
On shipping, it's a good idea to package your item ahead of time, weight it and figure out how much it'll cost on average to ship your item to a buyer. One way to do this is to calculate the cost to ship to each extreme of of the country and average that cost out to come up with your shipping cost, and definitely add the cost to insure the item. You shouls also take into account international rates should your item sell outside the US. All of this can be done for free at USPS.com, UPS.com and FedEx.com. UPS and FedEx insure each package for the first $100.00 for free, but pastal insurance is very affordable as well.

Proper Packaging
You really don't want to go to all the work of taking pictures, writing descriptions, figuring shipping and selling at item if in the end the buyer sends it back to you for a refund because it didn't survive the trip to the buyer. That's just poor business.
Figurines should be shipped double boxed, the original box (or a appropriately sized substitute) set up so the item
doesn't move or shift at all inside, packaged inside a second, larger box, giving at least 2 inches around the first, smaller box, which is then filled with packing peanuts. This can make a sizeable package, but it'll be a safe package.
